The guy who drove all those things into the ground was Brannon Braga, who's a producer on The Orville now (and wrote at least one decent episode, like he used to in the TNG days, before he became alpha nerd and started dating Jeri Ryan). This guy, Alex Kurtzman, is the guy who drove the reboot movies into the ground. Star Trek Beyond was only good because he was too busy launching the Mummy Cinematic Universe into the ground to stop Simon Pegg and Justin Lin from putting any Star Trek in their Star Trek movie.
