I still have the emails from 2010 and reading them now compared to recent ones the difference is crazy.
They are OBSESSED with this trans***** shit. Even if the current law isn't about bathrooms, their newsletters are filled to the brim over the past few years with declarations that not allowing body dysmorphic disorder patients to use the incorrect bathroom is the greatest assault on liberty since Hitler stormed through Europe.
I really, really tried to read up for details on these cases to see if the bathrooms were just covers for truly bigoted shit by shitty southern lawmakers, but no it really does just seem like special snowflake attention grabbing. Reading the newsletters I noticed something: they never went into any detail on the tranny cases. Every other issue featured specifics of the instances, quotes from assholes and interest groups pushing shadey shit, or actual wording of unjust laws and proposals. The tranny stuff? Shout, "segregation!" and be done.
There is no way, no FUCKING way they would ever defend the KKK now, despite the present organization being a shadow of the threat it was in the 60s.
Is there any progressive organization that hasn't devolved into NPR pledge drive shit? Even MoveOn.org has been co-opted by Sanders supporters and the naval gazings of Robert Reich (for people who think Noam Chompsky is too challenging). They're STILL declaring Bernie a massive success for "forcing the debate left of center". Just more "raising awareness as the be all end all of activism" millennial mush.
