| Much like EU4 or CK2 there are periods of time where it seems like absolutely nothing is happening. The early game "barbarians" do seem to disappear easily though.
The AI around me feels a bit "too" passive, though I think it's because they seem to hate each other more than they hate me so they're reluctant to start a land war in Asia. These are the guys who did CK2 though, I'm sure they'll fix that within the first 30 days. Also the end-game can turn into a clusterfuck if the random events occur on the wrong side of the galaxy from you. 
Getting permission from all those empires to go all the way across the galaxy to defeat the things from Lovecraft's imagination is a hard sell (for some reason). But to me that's like losing in the Dwarf Fortress sense when you accidentally flood your entire fortress with lava. It's awesome. Also there's no zoom to cursor or zoom out to galaxy map which is an unforgivable sin in 2016. But these are nitpicks |
