Sure, but I've been reading his stuff since the Usenet days. Here's what happened then, and what happens now:

* Some nobody talks shit about Dr. Derek Smart, PhD.
* Smart defends himself
* OHHH GOD OHHHHH NO WHAT THE OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. In other words, fucking losers can't belieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve the guy getting shit on stuck up for himself and did a better job eviscerating the aggressor than the sad sack who started it ever could. I hope I don't have to defend enjoying that sort of thing on this particular website. 20 years ago people had a problem when the person being picked on didn't just suck it up and take it. Today people have a huge problem when someone getting picked on drops by and is funnier and meaner than all the dickshits gossping behind that person's back.

Since they can't win in an exchange of messages, you see them write stuff like, "Oh, you Google search your name??" and, "I wrote two Tweets and this guy wrote 10,000 words." As if that suddenly means that the loser starting shit is right. In fact... people here tried to do that to YOU 8-10 years ago. I've never read a heated exchange that involved you or Derek Smart where I didn't think that you and Derek Smart were the better participant.

Smart doesn't go onto sweaterknitting.org and fan the flames. If nobody out there started shit there wouldn't be any.


Has he made games you really like or had any real insight about gaming you agree with?


I enjoyed Battlecruiser: Millennium for a couple hours back in the day, sure. That's a lot more than I spend on most games I get through Steam these days, but let's not turn this on me, sir. Steam doesn't let you search by developer, otherwise I'd buy anything he had there and try it out.


He just isn't very bright and wanted to viral himself into some relevance regarding a project he's jealous of.


He is extremely intelligent, come on. That's not fair. Let me ask you this, why would you assume jealousy is the reason he was trying to figure out if the greatest crowdfunded project in the world besides the Pyramids was going to fail? You don't think the gaming press was going to uncover it, do you? Ha ha ha!

It took 15 years of failed promises and lies before someone stood up to Molyneux. By the time someone at the Kotakus got round to asking a difficult question to Chris Roberts, we'd be able to spend $900 on real spaceships. Real meaning they would physically exist and take us to Mars; they still wouldn't and won't virtually exist in Star Citizen in that year.
