Re: The starting guys seem SUPER ineffective, even on Normal setting. by N 09/22/2014, 8:58pm PDT They 'fixed' the original Wasteland trick of hiring Rangers, stripping their equipment and firing them repeatedly in order to start with a bankroll and enough ammo. Unfortunately they fixed it by making it impossible to recruit more party members during the beginning missions, so make certain a giant frog doesn't insta-gib your only surgeon leaving you unable to stabilize anyone else and condeming you to a slow death. Second start everyone got Pistol 2. I figured the Ag Center / Highpool thing was a party-splitting trick like in the original, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get the group on two different maps at once. The Friendly Fire tip only shows up after you shoot one of your own guys in the back. Thanks! Maybe I should have read the manual first. Fortunately the NPCs didn't read it either.
