| Partly because of Jerry's Q&A and mostly because of Might and Magic X.
MMX has a lot of fun riddles and puzzles. I'd say these are the highlight of the game since a good number of them made me feel clever and rewarded me with some great bits of equipment, most of which broke the game since any relic you get from an optional dungeon/puzzle is way the fuck better than anything else you'll ever find. The end of the game, however, was basically me steamrolling over hundreds of fairly easy enemies, which barely put a dent in the hundreds of potions I had saved up. I really can't think of any RPG that has successfully made a turn based fight fun, so I'm not even gonna try. Most battles will just be the main character shooting people in the face. I accidentally based most of the game on "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court", which is apparently the first ever time travel story. Twain basically just bashes Christians for chapters on end and then has thousands of people killed with dynamite and machine guns. It's amazing. I added another rolling ball room! This one has poo balls being shot at you. Do you think there's any way I could make the town area enjoyable? I've started on a little quest journal to make things a little less obscure, but is there any minor change that would alleviate the feeling of just combing the town until an event is triggered? I feel like I haven't played enough adventure/IF games to really have a good grasp of the design. I also toyed with the idea of making so you can just talk to the king and he'll let you skip everything at the cost of missing out on some substantial secret at the end (completing every puzzle and the town will give you a super secret sex room at the very end. Just as much porn as we can manage, all related to the game somehow). |
