People sit there and look at something else happening, electrical impulses racing in the sloppy grey meat that is poured into their skulls by the capricious and uncaring drive of evolution, and they believe that this means something. They believe that because they are there and because they did not avert their eyes, that this has some greater significance.
*ashes cigarette*
It doesn't.
There's no significance in your actions or in anyone else's. You're born, you rot, and you die, just like anyone else, and it doesn't matter what you observe or what you don't because it doesn't change anything except those little charges in your head. We've constructed this massive, self-sufficient artifice all in the service of making a tiny bit of electricity leap across synapse B instead of synapse A.
