5) If you're installing Windows 8... don't EVEN expect to see Windows 8.1 in the App Store from a fresh installation of Windows 8. You have to install some updates ... but fucked if I could find it in my list of 83 pending updates so I had to waste 30 minutes downloading and installing all of them. It's this sort of shit that made me give up on Second Life, every single solitary time I logged onto it I was informed I had another mandatory 18 to 20 megabyte download, where you have two choices, which aren't really choices, they're a Morton's Fork, either download and install the 20 meg update or quit the program. This got to be tedious, then ridiculous, then I said, "fuck this shit" and decided that SL wasn't worth spending that much time - I wasn't on a Cable Modem then - constantly downloading a new upgrade every time I restarted the program. |
