As it was, I quite enjoyed it - probably the second-best thing I played last year, after Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes*. (This is possibly not such high praise when you consider the fourth-best thing I played last year was Bastion. I need to play more things.) I even ended up at the same TRON with skeletons conclusion, though it wasn't so much of a problem for me because I found the unfiltered graphics so ugly and unreadable. Why couldn't they just make it look clean and stylish to begin with, like The (Bruce Timm) Animated Series, but with big obvious Zelda cracks in the wall where you're supposed to spray your bat-jizz?
You would've figured out all the riddles if you tried harder. You're a smart guy and all the clues are there. You just didn't have the TIME for that BULLSHIT, you've got HUNDREDS OF OTHER GAMES TO PLAY in your adult man's childrens' entertainment backlog, which means they obviously weren't put there FOR you. Yeah they could've been better, but how many current-gen action games with obligatory collectibles actually did them better? I can only think of ones that did them worse - sometimes much, much worse (Rage).
*Which BTW is going to be the next free giveaway on XBLA, starting late tomorrow night and running until the 15th. I should go update the Games with Gold thread :( |
