You want to see where the idea of humor is pushed to generally horrifying or beyond, check out "Happy Tree Friends," where the characters in the cartoon end up losing limbs, scraping their skin off pr hitting the ground so hard they are eviscerated into a splatter of gore. Like this one: all-flocked-up-blurb.
You don't see that responding to these arguments with "No I'm not!" isn't logical when it's prevailing opinion.

It wasn't logical to respond to them in the first place. Besides, one time prevailing opinion included (1) The sun revolves around the earth; (2) The World is Flat; (3) Seinfeld was actually funny; (4) those who thought the government was spying on everyone were part of the tinfoil hat crowd.
