with your claim that you laugh at jokes. If you laugh at any joke while being conscious of the experience, then yes, in some sense you understand humor. The fact that you offer evidence of your understanding of at least one kind of humor as evidence that you don't have the symptom "an inability to understand humor" suggests that you think that, according to the DSM, no one with Asperger's Syndrome has ANY understanding of ANY humor. Do you think that if someone ever laughs at anything they think is funny, then they cannot have Asperger's Syndrome? Do you think it's absolutely impossible to make anyone with Asperger's Syndrome laugh (except in an inscincere or humorless way, as when they're being tickled or commanded at gunpoint)?
