There's nothing about this post that makes it inherently unreadable, but it's just so goddamn long. Think of a magazine: they might have an article that's 20 pages long but at least a quarter of that is pictures.
In the music world we think about "modes of listening": chamber music or electronic art music has a set of aesthetic criteria which differs from pop music which differs from dance music which differs from spiritual music etc. The way the material is presented needs to be tailored to the environment and expectations of the audience that will consume it. People on a forum are expecting posts that - at their best - resemble short, entertaining blog posts. They are not hoping for a novella and won't read one if they encounter one. Your posts tend toward the long side, but I think that you could force readers into a more magazine-like "mode of reading" if you incorporated images, and my hypothesis is that people will find them a lot more digestible even if the word count is the same. |
