The argument isn't so much over whether she should die or not, that's something absolutely peripherial to the issue that's actually being argued in all those courts is really about who has the right to make the choice to either let her die and the means by which she should, if that was the choice made. The law is clear; the husband, whom in this case he's described as something of an asshole apparently, is the one to make the call. The parents have their little necrophilia thing going, of course, but in the end they're not paying for the medical treatment she's receiving. No, that burden falls to, as I understand it, the settlement money from a malpractice lawsuit from the time in which Terry was rendered a vegetable. We're talking millions of dollars funding this corpse's hospital stay, easily enough to keep her going until she's sixty or so. If she were to die the money would fall into the hands of the next of kin - the husband, who has said that Terry told him she wanted to die from starvation....
Very well, the law is clear.
Then here comes all these fuck-wits that want to manipulate the situation to make it emblematic of something -completely- irrelevant to the cases being presented in court. This isn't about whether she should die or not, it's about who has the right to say she should. The implications, however, are far reaching. Imagine what would happen if a husband without an unlimited trust fund found his wife in a vegetative state, and was forced to keep her alive by law. That's what the right-wing christians are after, they want to close the door on euthanasia in any of its forms (assisted suicide, abortions, etc.) legally. They want you fuckers to LIVE! WHY WON'T YOU LIVE?! No matter if its in severe agony, while driving your family down into the financial dirt, etcetcetc. Of course, they're also the loudest pedophiles on the block soo.....
