The needs are less obvious than Brood War by fabio 03/15/2013, 11:07am PDT Any kind of competitive play in base SC1 was a joke. Terran infantry wasn't useful for much besides bunker filling and a stopgap until you got other units. Massed mutalisks had no effective counter, protoss had a tough time assaulting a defended position, only terran had cloaked combat units, and dragoons were a sucky unit filling a vital role. Every new Brood War unit and upgrade filled an obvious, desperately needed role and the base game was completely unplayable in comparison. It's trickier figuring out the place for HotS' new units and my post was based on a first 2 hour impression. The only obvious needs I caught were rush defense for Protoss and a zerg counter to stalker-screened colossi. But I'm already seeing more creative strategies. Favorite so far: a double down verson of the protoss cannon rush by sneaking a Nexus into an enemy base and turning on the mothership core cannon.
