| The gameplay is at its least fun in the tutorial and first mission. It really opens up once you get a choice of where to go (DO NOT go to Russia first!).
The most important upgrades to get early are the stealth one that gives a couple seconds invincibility and a free pass if you're spotted. After that I went with the martial arts that gives an extra hit plus extra damage (you can ignore martial arts after that). Don't bother with any of the traps and gadgets. Guns: Packing a shotgun with the martial arts let me run up to most guards and decimate them short range. SMGs are worthless. Assault rifles are the all around most useful that don't really require upgrades. Pistols eventually become ridiculous with the first bullet time power. You're going to need that plus the assault rifle or shotgun power to get by some bosses. If you're getting railed by a boss you can always go to a new location and save it for later. The greatest strengths of the game are the mix of fighting and casual stealth that I don't think any game has done as well since Beyond Good & Evil and the fantastically pulled off illusion that your choices really affect things. |
