Dogs: you need a melee weapon
Black dudes and detectives: you need a firearm
Once you realize that and can plan for it, it gets a lot less irritating.

The firearm minimum range thing is great, dump/toss your firearm and you can take out 3 firearm guys hand to hand if they cluster up. Your punch also works fantastic if you simply wait for melee guys to come to you.

It's not a stealth game, you get points for taking different approaches to clearing levels - hence random weapons and enemy positions/behaviours (Flexibility). You also get points for killing people as rapidly as possible - (Recklessness/Combos). There are no points for remaining hidden. The security cameras; as far as I can tell, are a red herring.

My biggest gripe is the slow rotation speed of the character, which you can't fix without it turning you into a superman. This is a game where the weaknesses (slop in the controls, story, art) can work as strengths.

I mean sure it's OK and it was ten dollars, I don't know if there's much more to it beyond that. Certain weapons are totally fucking useless(re:Magnum), shooting is awful and usually a poor decision, most stages have an obvious first decision you'll ALWAYS make. Certain enemy types like dogs and black people seem designed just to annoy you. Also it's really fucking hard to tell what the hell is going on after you have enough bodies pile up.

I've been often reaching this point where me and an enemy get on top of one another and our muzzles are past one another's hit boxes so we can't kill each other. This happens especially with dogs and the fucking Magnum because your asshole character holds the Magnum out like he's Dirty Harry, meaning the muzzle is super far away from your body. It's a kind of reflex based action game sure, but each stage seems like a puzzle about clearing rooms in the right order and executing specific rooms properly. It'd feel more like a stealth game if there was some indicator of enemy reaction, or there was more to their pathing beyond walking around the exterior of the room in circles.

Other times certain rooms seem luck based. Whatever enemy you get your first weapon from can really be a big deal! Sometimes you get a gun earlier than others. Though certain items cycle on retry and others cycle when you try the level again, giving a slightly inconsistent experience. It's definitely not bad but I just find myself wishing it was a proper first person shooter.
