Justified: Elmore Leonard produces it and a bunch of the episodes in the first season are based off of stuff he wrote, so you get crackling dialogue and egalitarian screen time for everyone involved right off the bat. The first few episodes make it seem more conventional than it really is, but once it kicks into gear and shifts into the second season you've probably realized you're watching one of the coolest shows ever.
Terriers is a sunny noir about a couple of fucked up guys being very cool and scruffy P.I's. Both these shows share something in that there's this kinda jovial tone to them that breaks again and again against the necessity of violence and shit. Real estate development. Manliness. They're both kinda interesting, but Terriers ends after a season without leaving you hurting, so you might as well try that one out first. Starts out more evenly as well. |
