How did you end up becoming a software patent expert? When was I talking about software patents? I do discuss copyrights in general at times, and copyright on software in particular, but I don't remember doing much discussion over software patents.

As a follow-up: what happened to your company? Nothing. It's still there. If you have a corporate entity and you don't owe anything, you don't go bankrupt or cease operations, it remains in business until you either stop paying the renewal fees or you pay the fee to dissolve the corporation.
I have a corporation I chartered in Virginia back in 2006. When I moved to Maryland, I had a choice. Charter a new corporation or allow the Virginia one to be authorized to do business in Maryland. Well, by a quirk in the rules, allowing my existing corporation to operate in Maryland would cost $100, but a new Maryland corporation would cost $120. So I authorized the existing corporation. Two years ago.
By another quirk in the rules, since the corporation I operate is a for profit, non-stock corporation it pays no fee each year when it files its annual report in Maryland, and $25 a year when it files its report in Virginia. So I paid Maryland $100 once, and I've paid Virginia $25 four times. And it is still in operation.
