| Barrett isn't that hard, either. Without dermal armor or a Typhoon (but with a shotgun!) I managed to kill him after 20-30 frustrating minutes. Arguably the more obnoxious thing is that you can't save AFTER the cutscene takes place, and quickloads in Deus Ex are too slow for my taste. If Gabe is shitting his pants now, wait until he meets the cloaked ninja and suddenly needs 5 points in dermal armor to avoid smashing his computer.
The boss battles are bad. The idea that you can go through the entire game without killing anything is bullshit. But anybody who's read anything about the game already knew that. I even posted a helpful guide! Only a couple of dickless wonders who fawn over their ugly spawn and have completely forgotten how to play a game competently are flipping their keyboards about that. Anna Navarre, Walton Simons, and Gunther weren't skippable bosses either. Navarre and Gunther had killcodes, but honestly I never got the opportunity to use them for arguably the same reasons Gabe and Tycho are bitching about: It makes the rest of the game ridiculously hard if you go full hacking at the start to get Anna's code. (Gunther's killcode is purely gotten by chance based on telling Jaime Reyes to stay at UNATCO as a spy...BUT he steals an aug-canister if you tell him to come to Hong Kong!) EDIT: Ok, Walton Simons can apparently be outrun in both Area 51 and the Undersea Base. That's still two unskippable bosses. |
