He found some deal somebody made that lets you view a Minecraft world (or, at least, a several-hour-old snapshot of it) through a Google Maps interface. It's amazing. Example: http://www.deadworkerspartynetwork.com/theshaft/map1/mapalt1/map.html?worldX=980&worldY=0&worldZ=160&zoom=6
I mean, zoom out from that thing, holy crap.
Ours is less cool than that one is. Unless you think it's cooler for a grown-up not to play with Legos (or, as in our case, to play with them less than somebody else does). I keep coming back to that because it's the main thing about the game, for me. It's awesome yet stupid. Oh well. ONE DAY somebody will let the computer do most of the work instead of the player and then jeep and I can be satisfied for a while, until we've outgrown that hurr. But maybe we won't. :)
It's odd the stuff some folks like to waste all their time on. For my part, I compulsively modify and create new star trek-looking ships in Gal Civ II, then play the stupid fucking game over and over. I almost never win, also. JESUS FUCK WHAT AM I DOING. I take it that minecraft isn't going anywhere if I want to try it down the road sometime. |
