AP's been out for a year and change. that thread confuses the two games, but resolves the hardware issue because it was nvidia's fuckup. I just restarted on easy to see if the fights became too simple. They don't, you still can wear out your units and die pretty quickly by the third island. With one level of scouting you can see how hard the fight is going to be and try to avoid it, there's usually 3-4 options in front of you at any time as to which battle you want to tackle next, so you grab the easiest and can make good headway. Civ5 will be fine when there's a bunch of mods for it, for now moving the armies is too tedious.
