| It turns out the whole overheating thing was an Nvidia driver issue! The issue had been solved long ago, but for some reason Dell stopped updating their supported drivers before the problem was fixed. (I was worried that if I didn't use their official drivers they'd void my $300 warranty). Now that my warranty is expired I hop on down to Nvidia, update the drivers and my temperature monitor confirms the game's running without a hitch.
FUCKING dell! It's probably because of laziness that they stuck with the defective drivers, but part of me is paranoid enough to think that it was a conscious decision to speed my aging laptop to its grave for return business. I already replaced 2 motherboards whose GPUs burnt out during the warranty period. |
