Which, for all of its last-gen vibe, managed to still feel like a game in that it gave you a variety of interesting ways to thrash around in a fake ass period piece sandbox. Mafia I, on the other hand, couldn't decide if it was the most boring driving sim in the world or an awkward third person shooter. I guess the time in which it's set is no particular draw for me, so that doesn't help.

I guess my real question is whether the checkpoint issue is handled well in this game. If even Rockstar can manage to figure it out (more or less) with RDR, and also learn to avoid long drives as mandatory replay parts before actually challenging missions, then I assume these guys can do it as well. But a sandbox game lives or dies by its save system these days.
