Hour 28: we finally get to play the fucking game by Noi Dau Don 03/30/2010, 12:10pm PDT
You have to get to disc 3 on the xbox version to play the fucking game. You must wait, bitterly, through 28 hours of cutscenes in order to get to the point that you start at in FF12.

When you're on the Palamecia, grind. A lot. Not for CP but for cash, it is the last you'll see of it for a long time. When you land on Gran Pulse, do not attack anything bigger than Hope, you'll get your ass beat. Settle in for the real CP grinding, it'll be a while. Marks: are largely bullshit, and if you are any kind of a real fantasy soldier you will faceown all after a few hours of dedicated levelling. Upgrading weapons will tie you to characters, do upgrade Lightning's Axis Blade and kit her with the +ATB meter items for speed boosts, she will rip shit up.

I find party balancing to be fucking irritating in this game because you are really forced to pick something to be scarce in. It grinds my completist gears. I am like Ruby Rhod when I play these games, I don't want just one position I want all positions. That being said, I wound up with a Lightning/Fang/Hope party and don't use debuffs nearly as much as I should.

The "Auto-battle" command makes inefficient decisions at the weirdest times. In particular it's schizoid about Ravagers - even when Lightning's STR is higher than her MAG and magic blade attacks would do more damage than magic alone... she still defaults to magic. She won't pick up magic blade attacks until her str and mag are roughly equal. WHY.

Game continues to be breathtakingly gorgeous. :(

On the fandom front the clear favorite pairings are Fang/Vanille and Lightning/Hope.



There is a ton of yuri coming out in the wake of Fang/Vanille/Lightning (the j-fanon term for it is "Neopolitan" - cute, da ne? Because, right, Fang is chocolate, and Lightning is strawberry, and Vanille is whatever that other flavor is.)
