What was that point jeep kept talking about where you should strip Bastila for maximum enjoyment? Right now I'm going with all the time just to be safe.
Right before you board the ebon hawk, then next 30 minutes are mostly cutscenes.
The problem with the attributes in this game has been around a while, since it's just DnD ability scores. Ideally you want to be good at all of them, but the point system won't allow that. Because of the escalating costs, I never start with higher than a 14 in anything, because that way I can have a 14 in almost everything. In the case of this game I would say that your Intelligence score is the least necessary, as it only helps you with the skills your droid is already superb at, and is critical for only two things:
- So as not to spoil anything, you get another droid after leaving the first planet, and if you have the repair skill you can use it on him. The repair skill has to be very high to get through the whole series, but if you do he tells you some good stories and gets better in combat: I recommend skipping it and then going through the game again later to get that specific skill and to have him in your party, he has something to say in almost every scene, it changes the game.
- The second thing is the number of skill points you get. Each +1 bonus from Intelligence is supposed to give you another skill point every level, plus the 4 extra to start the game. If you play as a soldier/guardian you don't get many skill points, nor do you need them for anything but persuade. So giving yourself an Int of 8 costs you nothing if you are a soldier/guardian. If you go lower than 10 I think your dialog options become more limited, though.
You need Wisdom for force powers later on, and Str/Dex/Con for combat, and you need Charisma because as the leader of the group you have to do all the talking to NPCs and your dialog options are limited if any of your Int, Wis or Charisma are less than 10, and you get no bonuses for anything less than 12. So generally I just put 12s and 14s in there. There isn't anything that will cause you to lose the game later if you do something else.
There's a minimum number of skill points - you can't start with less than 4. I put them in persuade, because I'm the only one who can take persuade, and sometimes computer use because I don't always have the droid with me. You can save skill points to spend later, which I would do if there were any force skills in the game. (There aren't)
Don't take any ranged weapon feats. There are a ton of options, but the game kind of nudges you in the direction of being a lightsaber-weilding jedi, so start off with two weapon and critical strike and then take the force melee feats later (knight defense is called lightsaber defense or something, take that one).
You can use every skill and feat in the game, there's almost always 3 or 4 ways to do everything, I'm just recommending this for the first time through, sort of the 'keep hands and feet inside the vehicle and enjoy the ride' setup.
