Start as a Soldier for the VPs and Feats. Become a Guardian when you become a Jedi. STOP LEVELING WHEN YOU GET TO LEVEL 5 AS A SOLDIER or you'll just waste it on being a soldier and not a Jedi. Put points into WISDOM for FPs. For feats, choose 2-weapon Fighting/dueling, Critical Strike, Weapon Focus Lightsaber, Toughness; Conditioning and Implants at the end. Beng a soldier will give you all the weapon feats you'll need (you're better off using those stupid swords and playing to your skills as an eventual Jedi)
Don't listen to Joosh, he's crazy. I'd start with one point in Persuade and 2 in Treat Injury, and only level up TI as a Soldier (you'll need it). Even up Persuade after you become a Jedi, then increase them equally. You don't need any other skills, that's what your NPCs are for. The end part he's talking about does not require Computer Skill, just a lot of spikes.
For Force Powers, I'd take Force Speed, Force Push, Cure, Force Valor, Mind Domination. If you want the endgame to go easier, you'll want to have at least one Dark Side power maxed. Even as a Light Jedi, you can have Jedis in your party who use Dark Side skills. Speaking of which, there is no better party than all Jedis. A less-than-obvious NPC opportunity is on Dantooine, her name is Juhani. Redeem her from the Dark Side. Every so often you'll have to use another NPC in case-specific instances. The game makes it silly easy at times, you just go to the map screen and click Return to Ebon Hawk (after you leave Taris of course), switch party members, then click Transit Back and you're back.
Combat is a real pain in the ass at times. Grenade distances are quirky; I've heaved them across a hangar and then couldn't throw one ten feet outside. Your dudes will tear off against target after target if you don't make them Disengage and walk away. The game will sometimes automatically choose your first fight command. If you don't like it (usually, you won't), you have to Disengage, then reengage. Also, if you let the computer fight for you, it will usually default to the generic attack command (which you'll probably never use), occasionally healing or using random Force powers.
As for buying stuff, I don't think I bought one thing that wasn't quest specific.
If you want to cheese through the Swoop Bike races, just hit Pause a lot. You can rapidly cycle between pause and movement commands, like some kind of latter-day retarded slo-mo Track and Field.
Once you leave Taris, you're supposed to go to Dantooine. After that, you can go wherever you want and do it in any order. I'd go to Kashyyyk first, an NPC Jedi named Jolee is there. Be sure to give him the Disable Droid force powers. Tatooine's pretty easy. Manaan is okay but you end up in court a lot, like it's Star Wars: Return of the Bench Warrant or something, and it can be a real pain in the ass. Korriban is a pisser, but it's fun (there's a lot you can't do though, or you'll get Dark Side points. If you play Light Side, don't get any Dark Side points). The space station outside Yavin has a merchant on it who restocks if you visit three seperate times, I think. He has neat shit but again, I found everything I needed. |
