| It's very good. While there is always tension about keeping your bearings, it is actually set up so a little thinking can get you out of every period of disorientation. The retro graphics are fine although I prefer the new ones. That's probably because I have no attachment to the original games from which this style is derived.
If Demon's Souls is the definitive use of current gen consoles for a dungeon crawl, this is probably as good as it will ever get for portables. The best feature is probably the stubborn refusal to integrate any "creative" touchpad functions and stick to the unobtrusive/easily subbed by button presses options. Between the wii and the DS I'm already done with Beyond Control Pad schemes, before the 360 and the PS3 have even had a chance to fuck it up their own way. |
