It seems like Super Mario Galaxy took a lot of their platforming ideas from this game. It just seems that way though, I don't really know, although there are some twisty gravity spots and weird areas that blend into each other. This is a lot more sandboxy though, although you do buy shit in Mario Galaxy now that I think about it, because you collect those star bits for currency and can use them to buy shit, just like you collect the magic purple arrowheads in Psychonauts. I was thinking that Mario would go smaller instead of bigger with its eventual big name sequel, like Mario Microscopic whatever, but I almost wouldn't be surprised if the next Mario game was like a Mario version of Psychonauts. |
