quick quiz, what is the difference between BKN&B and any shitty ass boring sports based racing game?
answer: the characters from previous banjo kazooie games
even worse, they give you the ability to leave your vehicle, where all the richness of playing a classic banjo kazooie game COMPLETELY DISAPPEARS due to the insane design concept that demands you always be inside your vehicle to do anything the game requires you to do, especially delightful quests involving picking up crates and delivering them to a static point on the map (you don't actually get a map, just a tiny radar with a fuckload of random colors all over it) or driving through waypoints
but that's just the overworld hub, the actual missions involve doing the same boring shit, but with a timer. at one point an enemy "boss" collected the magical special macguffin and drove off with it, with my unstated objective to drive up, plow into their car, hop out and try try try fucking try to levitate the object out of their hold. on my second attempt I decided to use the fast motorcycle since the game allows you to build and operate any vehicle you might ever want (for no good reason, all the vehicle parts are best used in the vendor's blueprints making the whole idea of crafting your vehicles from scratch a fucking pointless waste of time). long story short (lol too late?) the fucking bitch runs over my motorcycle without slowing down, and as I hop out to try and steal the item she just fucking DRIVES OFF with my only reason for playing jammed between her axles, not even so much as impeding her ability to steer.
I then attempted to resummon my vehicle by holding Y, when I get a message telling me that I CANT FUCKING SUMMON MY VEHICLE BACK DURING A MISSION IN PROGRESS. I actually played a few more missions after that, but I lost patience right after I failed a mission simply because I didn't have the correct vehicle blueprints which I could attain by grindan some other mission areas for extra equipment. they actually came up with a worse idea than collecting all 100 notes in each mission of banjo kazooie 1 for the final secret end game prize (a double health bar, which is quite nice)
basically, qt3's game of the year |
