Don't really want to give too much away but my company has merged with another, and the owner wanted to not have to deal with the business and just program. So now I wear the management and sales hats. In order to not waste time writing proposals, I have kept the proposals restricted to what tools we are using and what functionality those tools provide.
i.e. The photo manager allows you to create groups of photos and add, remove photos from galleries. Or, a collaboration area; allows for posting of documents and allows users to request revisions.
The break down is once I get acceptance I hand this to my partner (development) and then once we are facing a deadline the project folder ends up on my desk with: what do you mean, what does this mean, where does this go? Sadly, I had assumed that the person in charge of development would ask these question while, I don't know PLANNING development?
It seems like I need to find a way to allow the development head to continue not thinking but I'm at a loss for the solution. Either that or I just need to kick his ass and start looking for a 9-5 job. |
