Re: The perfect visual.

It's a fucking nightmare. What were they thinking? I am so very lost, especially in the bizarro side/splitscreen coopmode.
Well it's just how their level design works. They build their levels around the engine (shooting, aliens, weapons, vehicles). There is a lot of dressing, like plants, hills, inclines, holographic screens, lights. Then they just make some areas to let the game mechanics play out. On the other hand, Valve makes level a huge committee process where the design is worked with and sorted through so that it is clear, distinct, original, interesting, blah blah blah blah. At least I am basing this off HL1, but still, I'm OBJECTIVELY RIGHT. >:( Doom 3: boring as a bag of shit levels. Halo 2: great engine, restricted only by totally confusing levels that play out just as corridors with the occasional locked door to create the illusion of greater space. On more occasions, though, there are outdoor areas you can ride around in that are just awesome. HL2: no one will be able to live up to the levels.
