They aren't messing around with anything unimportant: if there is to be a fight scene, it needs a dramatic location, so let's insert a dramatic location without worrying about the whys and hows. Does a character want to leave? Ooh, a purple-prosed speech should just up and out of even the most taciturn fellow's mouth. It's less like watching anime and more like watching someone's fantasy life - specifically the voice actors', who aren't shy about making their respective characters look and act as much like them as is practical - and for that reason it's compelling. Steer well away from it if you're an AV purist or unable to suspend disbelief or have good taste, but for those of us favored with gullibility and a weakness for bishies, it's just damn fine.[/quote]
