If the cameraman was in a hurry, he'd point his camera at the floor until it was safe. Once he got his paddle up, the 'scout' paddle would hang around until the director told him to move. So you'd usually have at least two paddles, mostly aligned, in the FOV of the viewer, shielding him from the terrible cunt. It would only take a slip of their hand for a jerker to lose an eyeful of tit, which could be pretty disastrous if he's one of these guys who's always disappointed with his wanks.
