But I'm not sure what lead you to believe that I was saying the bit about Jr. doing all of this to help the SUV driving public or whatever. My impression (and Zseni, I'll look for some corroborating evidence) was that the oil companies have assloads of valuable contracts that they can develop when and if the sanctions are lifted. Those contracts may be worthless in a Saddam-less Iraq. Russia in particular just signed all kinds of deals with Iraq. So the oil companies want Saddam in power and the sanctions lifted, and the prospect of the US going in and fucking everything up is very worrisome. The oil cabal in the White House in this scenario is actually going against their lobby, if you can believe that.[/quote]
