This is as far as I could take it with my time available and my even more limited programming ability. I tried using everything in my programming arsenal: spaghetti code, confusing variable names, lack of commenting... but still could not crack the final bug. And once I knew I couldn't crack the final bug I also gave up on some of the easier items that just required time and patience. The good news is that the table works great regardless and the most major bug, where the high score is sometimes logged millions higher than the actual score, doesn't hurt playability at all. In fact, it's like a feature. Sometimes you get lucky and the game gives you a few million points at the end, who would complain about that? Libertarians and meritocrats I guess. I played it before sending it off to ICJ and it was really fun -- I recommend taking a year off from playing it when you get bored and it will seem good again. And still pretty difficult. I guess if I have a regret it's that it's a bit too hard, but I still played until I got a 5-ball multiball and 300,000,00 points in the one sitting which is probably my personal best. The game is probably a bit faster than when you last played it, but it also drains on the right outlane a lot less, thanks to some position tweaks. CHANGE LOG from 0.53 ----------------------------- - Increased slope 1 degree. - Increased bumper power. - Flippers given 5 degrees of extra movement. - Various posts tweaked for better flow. - Hidden inside rail behind right ramp smoothed to prevent ball hangups coming out. - Blocker target added in front of vertical up-kicker to prevent too many balls in lock (8). - Moved megaphone/Snoop elastics to lessen drain shots and endless passes between the two elastics. - "Shoot shut-in" text and SFX on loops during BIPOLAR MODE fixed. - Loops needed for bipolar mode now resets to 3 on new game - Replaced crystals with plastics (better performance, looks basically the same) - Rubber post moved to improve bipolar ball kickouts - Arrow colour changed on robot hooker to be less like pubic hair - Red crosses added to medication targets (adorable) - Fixed typo in "reverse loop" - Upkicker flasher keeps flashing after a jackpot during multiball - Invisible ball lock wire ramp guard added - Invisible plunger lane guard added - Loading screen changed - Added exterior cabinet textures I don't see The Happiness Engine's bug addressed specifically, but the incline change and "various posts tweaked" could have eliminated it. Now onto the TO DO list. This is what was in my little Caltrops Pinball.txt file from last year: TO DO -------- Backboard update on monitor 2 Stop BALL LOCK SFX during Multiball Fix high score bug Stop multiplier SFX/text after 4x Stop sad drain SFX during Tuesday kickback Turn off multiball arrows during bipolar Stuck ball search routine Add rest of MM's quotes So the backglass scoreboard doesn't update (which you'll really notice if you have a second monitor) because that turned out to be a big pain in the ass to implement. The ball lock SFX plays even when a ball is not being locked. You get extra points at the end sometimes. The multiplier SFX plays even after you've maxed out the multiplier. When your ball is rescued and kicked out, the sad drain sound plays. The multiball arrows stay lit during bi-polar battle, even though the rape button is up at that time. There is no "stuck ball search routine" where the table fires every solenoid looking for a stuck ball. (The ball will very rarely get stuck in the divot kicker in the lower left -- FP bug, not mine). And Mischief Maker made (mischievously) about 5 other dramatic line readings for Caltrops inside jokes that were unused. If you can live with the above problems then Caltrops Pinball 0.91 "Finished" Edition is for you! And hey, you know you can edit things in Future Pinball, right? Feel free to make all the corrections you want. I just ask that you name your update "Caltrops-CattleHumper-edition.fpt" or whatever. Thanks to FullofKittens for Pleasure Inspector and many amazing sound effects and tiny tunes (do not stop playing until you hear the multiball jingle). Thanks to Mischief Maker for shouting things into his computer while his roommate was trying to sleep and other 8-bit SFX. Thanks to Entropy Stew for some disgusting sounds. And thanks to Zseni for screaming "rape button". The end.[/quote]
