It was pretty mediocre
KotOR with Gears of War Lite combat should have been awesome. Once you play for a while though you start to realize how much the plot really carried KotOR. It's like they couldn't get any real writers this time and all the programmers figured they could just cobble together something cribbed from all their favorite shows and movies. The result was a very weak Babylon 5 and Star Control 2 crossover fan fiction that could never pick a theme and stick with it. Is it about a sinister government with a dangerous lack of checks and balances? Is it about how power and no accountability cause agents to go Gestapo? Is it about an ancient evil race that plays sides against each other to weaken them? None of the above. The game takes a half step hinting at each then never develops anything. Everything from the intro to the mechanics hint at your secret agent character with license to do anything struggling with having to make the tough choices and GET RESULTS. Nothing ever happens. Choices only determine if you give polite or sarcastic responses to people. Which leads to the awful dialog. The main character is constantly spewing lame remarks like Leon Kennedy minus any camp value. Every character in the game is some insufferable mix of blue KotOR girl and whiney Carth. So many BIG IMPORTANT moments so contrived that they're almost unintentionally funny (almost). Inventory management is a complete mess. Really the only good thing you can say about the game is that it has the best facial animation since the Source engine.
