They had to patch in a "guide button" feature like the 360 has, and when you hit it, it doesn't even pause the game like it does on the 360. The PS3 is an unfinished console.

Speaking of patching in basic functionality to a console, I only just found out about the Wii MotionPlus, Nintendo's add-on to the WiiMote.



Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play.

So basically it makes the Wii function more like how everyone expected it to work, pre-disappointment. Imagine M$ or $ony pulled $omething like that? Hell, people went nuts when Sony finally re-introduced rumble in the Dual Shock 3. Penny Arcade comics, and everything, and controller rumble is nothing. This Nintendo add-on actually makes the controllers work correctly. It'll probably accompany WiiSports 2 and propel Nintendo to new heights of setting back video games with epic sales.
