Clive Barker wrote this fun little short story a million years ago and suddenly it was being made into a film, directed by Versus shitmaster (and cutscenes director for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes!) Ryƻhei Kitamura, and starring Vinnie Jones as the train butcher. Well the Vinnie Jones part is promising! The next news I heard of this project was Lion's Gate bumping it from the scheduled opening weekend and sending it straight to DVD because it sucked. Bad sign! Then drama unfolded as the only R-rated movie that weekend, The Strangers, had a great box office without any 17+ competition. Executive producer of The Strangers was Lion's Gate president Joe Drake! Clive Barker fans (mostly his number one fan, Clive Barker) started to scream about the conflict of interest, and the movie ended up being released to only 100 theatres, which was the minimum number required in a contract obligation to the production company.
Pretty exciting! All of that is much more interesting than the movie, however. But if you like ridiculous Clive Barker stuff and funny over-the-top gore, it's a good enough time.
Imagine using that quote on a movie you want people to see. "Worse than Hellraiser". Unbelievable! |
