So, assault/hunting rifle. They seem to suck. by Arbit 01/12/2009, 3:03pm PST I just got this game a couple days ago and I'm already outscoring random internet people when I use a autoshotgun and they use ARs. The Valve forums have determined the shotgun has the best DPS and infinite piercing, but you don't need number crunching NERDS to figure out the autoshotgun is best. (Surprisingly, the AR does not infinitely pierce, but it does shoot through an extra 0.5 feet of wall, YAY.) So, why is the AR assault rifle the default choice for most people?
