It generally belongs in the category of sexual surrealism. Except instead of having a lot of different surreal jokes about sex, like R. Crumb or Ralph Bakshi, there's basically three.
1) BONERS
2) FAGS
3) COCKSUCKING ONOMOTOPOEIA
And instead of having a lot of different surrealities, there are just the set characters, set backdrops, and all-caps text. Nor are the jokes illustrated! But since we don't really hold that against Dinosaur Comix, it's not really valid criticism here.
Like Benny Hill, it's funny in small doses. As an added bonus, you can pencil in "Creex," "Weyoun," and "Worm" under the characters and pretend all the strips are Caltrops threads. |
