I know Nocturne got some high praise from two people here, and I was seriously thinking about picking it up. Then I read that it was part of the Persona series. Has this series gotten any better since Revelations? I remember playing Revelations and being floor with the clunky interface and boring combat. The combat reminded me of the original SNES Ogre Battle with all its straightfoward banality, only it didn't have Ogre Battle's neat strategic aspect to back it up. Also, I will never, ever endure first person dungeons in an RPG ever again.
So if I hated the living hell out of Persona: Revelations, will I love Nocturne? (I may be biased against Revelations though. I rented what I thought was Resident Evil in 1997 and was so psyched about playing it. When I got home and opened it I realized someone had put the wrong box behind resident evil and I found that gay vampire/venom/demon on the Revelations cover staring back at me. I played it out of curiousity and frustration)
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
The puppeteer levelling system sounds good enough. The WWI setting is another bonus. Downsides including the penny arcade guys loving it, which gives it a 90% chance of sucking. |
