She had no trouble surviving, and that's even though I spent some time just watching her in action to see how many enemies she could draw before I shotgun them. I guess I can see how certain play styles could be negatively affected, but all I can say is that anecdotally mine does not appear to be. I drew the comparison to Luis because of that, specifically in terms of the "house siege no 2" scene in RE4. Her combat style seemed an upgraded version of his, with the bonus that she was able to resurrect me when crippled coming in return for having ammo expenditure. I expect it to get more interesting once you have an opportunity to invest in upgrades and make tactical decisions along those lines.
I don't know what to tell you about the coop. When it's done reasonably well it is an incredibly big selling point for me. To the point where I may buy 2 copies of this, just so I can have the whole screen to myself and coop at home. Speaking of which, why is it that new 360 games (GoW2, CoDWaW, and now this) have such a bitch of a time with the aspect ratio of a fairly standard HD widescreen display? Is there something unusual in my setup where I'm getting two smaller, offset rectangles of actual play view and lots of black space in the splitscreen?
I agree on the item instant pick up. By all means, pop up an icon to let me know, but in a game that is already making me stop to shoot, that's really just annoying. Dead Space proved strafing doesn't break the game, so it's time to experiment with other conventions.
Also, the destructible environments: I can't really foresee where that's going until I know just how scripted it is, but the times I've played the first scenario so far have gone differently in terms of how the environment changes. It's a big step up over breaking windows and doors, and I approve. |
