It's a decent action flick, as lots of other (fat, cancer-ridden) reviewers have said it's more like a Bourne movie than a Bond movie. What really hurts it is they hired a director who doesn't know how to direct action, so the sequences which should be the most exciting (and really the only things worth watching) are all messes. It goes beyond the usual "I'm not sure who is doing what here," and into "will anyone notice if I check my email on my iPhone right now?"
No Q, so of course no gadgets, only two hot chicks (only of whom Bond gets), normal-looking (if short) villains and henchmen, etc. I'm not sure what their goal is with these new movies but if it's to bring some emotion into the character they're failing and what makes it worse is despite the obvious sneering they're doing at the more recent Bonds, Pierce Brosnan putting one between (unarmed) Sophie Marceau's tits ranks as the most devastating Bond moment of the last 20 years and they're never going to come close to that no matter how many chicks they drown. |
