OK, you need to pick up maintenance tools, too.
I actually find weapon degradation in F3 more annoying because there are huge damage, inventory management (combine four suits of armor into one high quality suit), and money making incentives (fill your inventory with high quality suits rather than shit) to maxing your repair skill, and I don't think the minmaxer in me will ever allow me to not max repair. That's 90 points I could have blown on... speech or something.
