| WHOA ATMOSPHERE. So incredible. Heading into Megaton for the first time was so absorbing that I kinda forgot it was a game, and started freaking out about my cats. Okay let's don't talk about that again later.
I started a beaner with a porn stache and thoughtful effete features. I thought I would play against type as some kind of runty guy who does what needs to be done to survive, so I picked small arms, science, and lockpicking (realizing almost seconds later that I should have picked sneak.) So far I'm just like a real basement dweller. Why didn't anyone tell me about that amazing intro section with the getting born and birthday party and shit like that? OMG, it was almost punishingly ATMOSPHERE. I was so into it that I actually sat through the whole GOAT, which I never do in Bethesda games. (I got "pip boy programmer." Are these tests ever right? YES, Morrowind's was. I got "witch hunter" every time.) The game is pretty great and I like VATS a bunch because it reminds me of playing Vagrant Story. ^_^;; I find it unreasonably difficult to portray anything but a paragon of virtue and F3 doesn't help at all by clearly displaying the Paragon Of Virtue reply in all dialog situations. But, loins girded with Mad Max movies and the blistering reality of the situation (I'm gonna be a beaner in a cruel dry wasteland,) I am slowly but surely learning how to steal from poor people and tell sweet old grandmothers to eat my dick. But then I blow it seconds later - clean out a dude's safe, but stop in to help him drop his drug habit?! Baby steps! Now that we all know that I'm 100% on board with the F3 Is Great crowd, let's talk about my quibbles: - Thanks for using all the same voice actors in F3 and Oblivion, Bethesda. I really wanted to talk to all these guys again. It gives me the pleasant nostalgic sensation of playing with a LARP group that has switched to Post-Apoc from High Fantasy. That's a feeling I have never enjoyed before while vidya gamin. - How the fuck does my 5-month-old video card qualify only for your Low Quality settings, and why did you make it so hard to tune everything back up. Looking forward to the mods that will correct your shitty LOD, grass polygon count, and pseudo-(inadvertent)-cel-shaded sprites. - HUD is annoying, needs cleanup. Again: modders will succeed where you failed. - Mandatory Dead Black Sheriff. - Why do I own property. |
