How 'bout them rookie coaches? by whydirt 12/26/2004, 4:42pm PST
Lovie Smith: Did alright with the hand he was dealt. Without a high-speed QB carousel next season, I could see the Bears making a playoff push, especially if Brett Favre Brett Favre BRETT FAVRE retires to chill out with his cancerous wife. I think Tice has blown his load, but that crazy dago in Detroit might be able to conjure up some wins if his receiving corps can stay healthy. Regardless, the Bears' defense is not one I'd like to play against, especially in December at very-fruitily renovated Solder Field.

Denny Green: I don't follow the NFC West, but I've heard that the Cards have won a few games this year, even a few that weren't spoiler games against imploding teams at the end of the season. I still don't know what McCown did to get benched, but it seems the fire under his ass got him to play a bit better. With rumors of all three other NFC West coaches being in the hot seat to some degree, Green seemingly has nowhere to go but up.

Mike Mularky: I don't know if I spelled his name right, and I don't know much about this guy either. Making a playoff push after going like what, 0-4 or something?, in same division as two other playoff contenders is nothing to sneeze at.

Jim Mora (Jr.): Now has the highest paid player in all of the NFL on his team. Gruden will likely flail around in Tampa for a few more year while the Saints will continue to be the Saints (sorry Jonsey :( ), leaving the Panthers as their main competition through the next few seasons. How many times will I have to hear how long it takes to learn the West Coast Offense in the next 2-3 years? Way too many.

Tom Coughlin: Fines his players for not being early enough. That shit might fly when you're winning games, but not when your team is right back to where it was before you arrived (hint: Chokesville). Benching Warner for Manning will likely be the most overanalyzed coaching move during the off-season, but rightfully so considering Warner had a winning record when he got demoted and the rest of the NFC (particularly division rivals Dallas and Washington) blew goats.

Joe Gibbs: My ex-roommate is a huge faggy Redskins fan. I remember that during my fantasy draft he talked a ton of shit about how overrated the Eagles' defense was and how Joe Gibbs would masterbate onto the game ball before kickoff instilling his winning seed right where it counts. Okay, he didn't say the last part, but the Redskins still suck on offense which makes me happy about ex-roomie's suffering. The only pro-bowl player on their team: ex-Colt Marcus Washington.

Erickson? No, wait. Turner: I probably can't say much about this guy without Bill correcting me, so hopefully this will bait him into posting something much more insightful about the NFL.
