The difficulty level on expert is PERFECT. Please don't feel like you need to change a thing. My three friends were playing with a guy - me - whose trackball didn't have a mouse wheel, and who was using WASD for the second game in his life (Fallout 3 finally got me to switch from the numeric keypad). I also kept trying to put the game into third-person mode, thanks to Fallout 3. I know enough about game testing to know that some players are just hopeless, and their feedback can and should be discounted. If anyone says that expert is too hard, don't listen to them. I was getting the hang of it by the end of the night, with the exception of the round that I only managed to kill six zombies.
(Also, the game is fucking amazing, and there were a couple times when I knew I was doomed, so I just stayed in one place to marvel at the zombie graphics. Because of the game's pace, just how good the game looks is going to be severely underappreciated.)
