I'm at the end, and the problems that have existed throughout the entire game of the enemies being ridiculous has finally killed it. Several enemies can wipe out half your party with ONE SPELL, because enemy spells do way too much damage, and there is no amount of grinding that can fix this, because in order to grind, you have to fight these enemies. They barely give shit for experience most of the time, except they're all randomly jumbled, so you might face an encounter against some single wizard that you can fuck up easy, then fight 3 of them at once and die and lose all of your progress. My entire party is level 70, we don't even have 4000 max HP yet (terrible design decision, whoever was responsible should be fired), and all the enemies that I need to be getting through are just the same random spell casting bullshit that isn't balanced properly. I stopped the game there, and I'm probably not ever going to finish it, because it's no longer fun or interesting enough, and has only accentuated the worst aspect of the Final Fantasy series, the random encounter grinding. They've managed to make it worse than it was in the original SNES FF4 (the American version even, which is apparently easier than the Japanese "hard type" version).
You know what's really sad is that they did the other remakes right, like Final Fantasy 1 and 2 on the GBA, Final Fantasy 3 on the DS, they were all really easy. I mean, if I wanted the hard version of the game, I'd go get the shitty unfun originals. Fuck this faggot shit. |
