When you had to get the memory card for your controller to make saves, and then they made games that use up the entire memory card for one single save so you'd have to buy another and another. Then you'd have to get the memory expansion to run Perfect Dark, and then you'd have to get another controller because yours wore out, and then they started charging $70 for games that weren't finished, and they didn't have any voice acting or cutscenes or videos, while every game for the Playstation had tons of CG, and all you needed was the system, the controller and the game, and the system wasn't even as powerful as the N64.
Anyway, about ads, they always look stupid but they definitely don't ruin the game. EA's shitty buggy games ruin the game, but a billboard ad while contemptible and I'm sure goes directly to EA and doesn't help to tweak the game any more, hasn't really made any game worse so far. They are easily groaned at, and I ignore any product advertised. I blame EA anyway. |
