There are a number of previews of the versus mode of L4D up today, including this one at Joystiq. And frankly, they don't seem all that enthusiastic about it. Both the gamespy preview and the Joystiq one point out that if you die as a survivor, there's a lot of waiting and watching in store for you.
Yes hm yes *crosses arms and puffs oak pipe* it's not like the survivors can last very long when their teammates start dying and being swarmed by zombies. I CAN'T SEE TOO GOOD IS THAT BILL SHAKESPEARE OVER THERE? *ADJUSTS GLASSES*

If I recall, it's basically Zombie mode from the AMX admin tool for CounterStrike, ported to Source with corresponding assets. Sure, you've got vomit ranged attacks and various speeds for the zombies, but the core function of team round play consisting of guns vs melee is a snoozer.
As far as I'm concerned all last man standing elimination style FPS games in general are really tedious and boring; unless you get to fight amongst the losers after failing the "real" challenge, like on old public Rocket Arena servers.
Okay this is some serious monocle beholding shit. Playing Braid was a deeply important part of this man's life, and he can't wait to tell you about the many many varieties of sleep that Left 4 Dead: Boring Game of the Year Edition will be putting him into. He is so bored telling you about how boring the game looks that quite frankly it bores him and we should hit our knees and thank GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that he even bothered to tell us how boring this game will be.
So qt3 huh. :( |
